How has being a part of Floodgate affected your life?

Being around "sold-out for God" guys like this makes me strive to be a much better Christian. Jamming with such God-gifted musicians make me strive to be a better musician. Floodgate has given me hop of leaving something musical behind to be proud of and that will glorify God!

My Testimony

When somebody asks me," Is that like the Tasmanian devil?” I say, " Nope. That’s like the Tasmanian Christian!” You see, Isaiah 45:23, Romans 14:11 and Philippians 2:10 says, "Every knee shall bow before GOD and confess his name”. That means everyone, even Taz. I choose to do so every day. There was a time when I didn't, though. For 20 years I claimed to be a Christian but I didn't live it. In fact I lived every weekend in bars playing country, classic rock, blues and heavy metal for my own prideful and selfish reasons. I didn't realize that even though I knew I had a GOD-given talent, which I could and should be using it for GOD.

My style of playing has always been heavy. Even when playing country music, my nickname was “Waylon VanHalen”. I know now that even when I was straying from GOD that he was still with me making sure my talent, passion and style developed exactly as he wanted, because he knew one day he would call me to do what I’m doing now. I didn't realize it at the time but the reason I have always liked heavy rock and roll guitar is because that’s the way he made me and the way GOD shaped my talents. That is my GOD-given style. My GOD-given passion is to help lead the lost back to JESUS CHRIST through music that will reach and minister to the lost. 20 years ago when I was worried about where I'd be the very next day, GOD already knew where I'd be in 20 years. In 2000, I got out of the bars and, via the House of Horrors at Garywood Assembly of GOD in Hueytown, Alabama, my daughter, Chazi, and son, Chad, were led to JESUS. My wife, Gyna, was led to CHRIST through the Easter drama and I also renewed my walk with CHRIST!

I started playing guitar at Garywood Assembly soon thereafter. I was ready musically for what GOD wanted me to do but now it was time for me to get spiritually ready. Thanks to Pastor John Loper, Pastor Ray all the staff and congregation for supporting and helping me grow spiritually. GOD has opened many doors for me to minister through music. Which brings me to Floodgate:

I started with them in December of 2001 and it's been a blessing jamming with the guys in Floodgate. They are gifted, on fire for GOD, quality musicians and I respect them for their sincere walk with JESUS and musicianship.

As you can see my testimony is one of 20 years of waiting on my GOD-given talents. GOD given talents can be used for the Kingdom of GOD and all are just as important as others. You don't have to be a musician in the spotlight to make a difference. The church body needs plumbers, cleaners, daycare, people good with elderly, someone just to cut the grass. The list is endless and all are just as important as the next. So find your gift and don't waste 20 years like I did.
